Laparoscopic Procedures

High quality facilities and services

Wolds Veterinary Clinic is pleased to offer laparoscopic, or “keyhole”, surgery to our clients. Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical option available for certain procedures in dogs and cats.

Because laparoscopic surgery is less invasive than traditional open surgery, many pets experience reduced post-operative pain, smaller wounds, and a quicker, more comfortable recovery. This can mean a faster return to normal activity and a shorter healing time.

Where Is Keyhole Surgery Helpful? Laparoscopic Procedures

Spaying using a minimally invasive approach

Exploring the abdomen to help diagnose certain medical conditions

Taking small tissue samples (biopsies) from abdominal organs, such as the liver

Removing retained testicles in dogs where one or both have not descended

Assisted gastropexy, a preventive surgery that secures the stomach to reduce the risk of life-threatening bloat

Assisted bladder surgery, to safely remove stones or blockages with a faster, gentler recovery

Selected soft tissue procedures where a keyhole approach is beneficial
