Why Us?

Why Wolds?

Our HIGH QUALITY FACILITIES AND SERVICES

Wolds Veterinary Clinic is an independent, private first opinion and referral practice who put your pet’s care and wellbeing at the heart of all that we do.

With this ethos, Pete and Phillip opened the practice in 2017. The clinic soon outgrew the building and so in 2020 we moved into Wolds’ new home – a state of the art building where the aim was to provide more space and the best possible environment to help the animals of Grimsby and the surrounding areas.

We are very proud to be the first practice in North Lincolnshire to be awarded three different accreditations in animal welfare.

We are a ‘Dog Trust Dog Friendly Clinic’, we have the ‘Gold Award’ by International Cat Care (ISFM) for a ‘Cat Friendly Clinic’ and also have a Silver Accreditation by the ‘Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF)

Our Facilities

In our purpose built clinic we care for cats and dogs in separate wards. This greatly reduces anxiety for both cats and dogs and is particularly helpful when treating conditions which are exacerbated by stress.

The air conditioned cat ward contains International Cat Care Gold Standard kennel designs with glass fronts for optimum hygiene and comfort. Larger sizes of accommodation are available for longer stays.

From time to time, some pets may need to be isolated while being hospitalised. This may be due to having an infectious disease themselves to prevent it passing to others, or to prevent a vulnerable patient contracting any infections during their stay, for example, if they are immuno compromised.

We have separate cat and dog isolation facilities which enables us to nurse these patients safely and appropriately.

To reduce stress for our feline and exotic patients when visiting the practice, we have a separate, quieter waiting area just for them.

We have two climate controlled, purpose built operating theatres which are fully equipped to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient undergoing surgery.

  • Multi parameter anaesthetic monitoring (including blood pressure, heart rate, ECG, SPo2, capnography)
  • Suction
  • Diathermy
  • Orthopaedic equipment
  • Constant Rate Infusions
  • Active patient warming systems
  • Laparoscopic surgical equipment

As dental procedures are classed as dirty surgeries, we have designed and located a room specifically for dentals and other dirty procedures to prevent contamination of other operating areas.

Our designated dental suite is equipped with anaesthesia as well as descaling, extraction and polishing facilities with the option of dental x-rays if required.

Our ultrasound suite gives our Vets access to high quality digital diagnostic imaging, allowing a clear and dynamic visualisation of internal organs, enabling effective assessment of the liver, heart, spleen, kidneys or bladder without the need for surgery.

Ultrasound can also help to confirm pregnancy and to monitor fetal heart rate.

Our endo and rhinoscopes offer minimally invasive investigations and procedures involving areas of the body such as the oesophagus, stomach, intestines and nose.

X-ray is an important tool which enables us to quickly diagnose your pet’s complaint or injury and then discuss the best treatment options. Our advanced digital x-ray is quicker and higher quality than old film-based systems and is much safer for your pet.

Similar to digital photography, digital radiography images are instantly available for examination by our vets. The superior image quality allows for quicker diagnosis as perfect images can be more easily obtained. This also makes the process safer for pets because lower exposures times are needed and therefore less time under anaesthetic. Another benefit of our digital x-ray system is that the images can easily be transferred to specialists for second opinions.

Our in-house laboratory allows us to analyse various types of samples quickly and efficiently.

Through blood samples we can check blood cells (Haematology), the major organ functions (Biochemistry), salt and mineral levels (Electrolytes) and various hormone levels whether to help with a diagnosis, for routine monitoring or as a pre-anaesthetic check for our surgical patients.

We can also examine urine, cytology and parasitology samples.

More extensive or specialist testing is carried out at a specialist external laboratory.
