Our Nursing Team

At Wolds we are lucky to have such an amazing team of highly qualified and dedicated nurses. Our Registered Vet Nurses are the backbone and heartbeat of our practice and we would be lost without them. They do so much more than nail clips, weight clinics and remove sutures. They are our Lab Technicians, Radiographers, Anaesthetists, Surgical Nurses, Pharmacists, Phlebotomists, Dental Hygienists and hands on pet carers, making sure your pet is getting the highest standard of care.

Our Nurses are ably assisted by our compassionate ANAs who help keep our in patients comfortable and help with the everyday smooth running of the practice.

  • Sam

    Sam

    Head Veterinary Nurse

Sam qualified from Askham Bryan College in 2016 with a Foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing. However, she stayed on an extra year to complete the Batchelors’ degree and graduated with First Class honours. Sam is constantly trying to improve her knowledge and experience by undertaking further study in different areas which enables her to offer better care to our patients.

Sam completed the Vets Now certificate in Emergency and Critical Care nursing in 2019, which was invaluable in making her more confident in her role and a better nurse overall by providing her with the skills and expertise to nurse a range of emergency and critical care cases.

After being involved in helping Wolds gain an ISFM Gold cat friendly status, she then completed the ISFM certificate in Feline Nursing in January 2022 which provided her with further knowledge on feline behaviour and welfare and the skills to nurse feline specific ailments.  She was drawn to the course from being brought up in a family of both cat lovers and owners.

Sam has worked in various other practices around Grimsby and North Lincolnshire, but was keen to gain more experience in nursing patients who have undergone more specialist surgery and medical procedures, so was over the moon to be given the opportunity to work alongside the fantastic vets and fellow nurses at Wolds.  Sam’s main interests in work include emergency and critical care nursing, inpatient care, and team management.

Sam lives locally with her boyfriend, Steve and two lurchers: Stag and Fawn, who are her world. She would love to have a ginger tom cat too but that and our choice of dog breed probably wouldn’t be a good combination!

Sam has recently completed a campervan conversion so spends most of their free time embracing a semi-nomadic lifestyle with their dogs in tow, pulling up somewhere and exploring the country. They particularly love hiking and thankfully have two young lurchers to keep them going when they are struggling.
